Around the world in a guitar.

[ 27.01.2009 ]

Another highlight,
more subtle than waterfalls,
but just as grand in a sense:

A small crowd of travelers
gathered around a table...

One Portuguese, one Argentinian,
one Brazilian, one Chilean, one British,
two Israelis, and two Canadians.

Mingling cultures,
Sharing strings.

Everything from Bossa Nova
t
o Neil Young classics
to an acoustic melody in Hebrew.

At one point,
even all joining in to the chorus
of a Radiohead song.

Amazing.

Music is universal,
and never more beautiful
t
han in such moments of simple,
human compassion.

What this world needs is
l
ess guns,
and more guitars.

Wow, you hadn't told us about this in an email. That must be the beauty of staying in hostels, you get to meet such diverse people. On top of all that, they played a radiohead song? God, you must have held back tears, well I would have.

I love that line: "What this world needs is less guns and more guitars", now that's a quotable line if I've ever read one.

I'm going to see Che, part 1 tonight, and it sounds like something he would say. Thinking of you..
